Proofreading

This is my absolute passion, and I specialise in literary translation. I look to create immersive texts that preserve as much as possible from the source culture, while still making sure they can be fully appreciated by an anglophone readership.

My working language pairs are French > English (FR>EN) and German > English (DE>EN).

ABOUT ME

How to sum up a person in a paragraph (or two)?

Hi! My name is Kath and I am a freelance translator and proofreader, based in South Manchester.

I graduated with distinction from the MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Manchester as a mature(ish) student. I was awarded the Faculty of Humanities Dean's Award for Achievement in 2025 for achieving a final grade of above 75%. I also won the 2024 Student Translation Prize, awarded by the Society for Early Modern French Studies.

When I'm not working, I can often be found up a big hill with my husband and dog or in front of my sewing machine trying to get pattern pieces to match up.

Knowledge, understood as philosophy, was thus to be found in words, the tools of the soul.
